After moving into the quiet town of Hinamizawa, Maebara Keiichi spends his days blissfully in school often playing games with his local friends. However, appearances can be deceiving. One fateful day, Keiichi stumbles upon news of a murder that had occurred in Hinamizawa. From this point on, horrific events unfold in front of Keiichi, as he soon learns his close friends may not be all that they seem. Based on the amateur mystery game by 7th Expansion, the story is told in a series of different scenarios.
MAIN CHARACTERS

Keiichi Maebara (前原 圭一)

Keiichi Maebara (前原 圭一)
Keichi is the main protagonist in the “question” arcs. The son of a famous artist, his family recently moved to Hinamizawa after an unfortunate event involving him in their hometown. His charisma and remarkable talent for speechmaking allow him to easily make new friends and become popular in the village.

Rena Ryuugu (竜宮レナ)

Rena Ryuugu (竜宮レナ)
Rena is a red-haired girl who moved to the village of Hinamizawa one year ago. She is the same grade as Keiichi and has a sort of obsession with things she perceives as cute whilst these things are usually not considered cute by others. Rena likes to go treasure-hunting in the village’s trash heap, looking for cute things to collect.
But there is also a scary side of Rena which shows whenever people take her too lightly and anger her. She is especially sensitive regarding anything about Oyashiro-sama.

Satoko Houjou (北条沙都子)
Satoko is a younger classmate in Keiichi’s school. She has a distinctive style of speech, ending all of her sentences with ~wa which, at times, is grammatically incorrect. In spite of her young age, she is quite clever in setting up traps, and likes to practice on Keiichi.

Rika Furude (古手 梨花)

Rika Furude (古手 梨花)
She is a younger classmate in Keiichi’s school, and is the same grade level as Satoko. Naturally, she is great friends with her, as they live together in the same house. She is revered by the villagers as the heir of the local shrine, and plays the role of a miko in the annual Watanagashi Festival. She has been the head of the Furude house since her parents died, but rarely attends the town meetings due to her young age. While she does not speak a lot, she likes to say nonsense words such as “mi~” and “nipa~”, which inflame Rena’s passion for cute things.

Mion Sonozaki (園崎魅音)

Mion Sonozaki (園崎魅音)
Mion is the oldest classmate in Keiichi’s class. As the elder, she is the class president and everyone looks up to her as the leader. Her social skills are on par with Keiichi, whom she highly respects as a friend and rival (though it is later shown that she has somewhat of a crush on him). She acts like a tomboy, and calls herself ojisan (meaning old man), but has a hidden girlish side. She is next in line to be the head of the Sonozaki household, one of the Three Families which hold tremendous influence in Hinamizawa. She is often seen with a holstered airsoft gun.

Shion Sonozaki (園崎詩音)

Shion Sonozaki (園崎詩音)
As the younger twin sister of Mion Sonozaki, Shion is an outcast in the town of Hinamizawa. Forced to live outside of Hinamizawa for most of her life, Shion does not live under the strict rules Mion (the heir of the Sonozaki estate) has to. After many years, Shion decides to move back to Hinamizawa to work and does her best to blend into the town with the help of her bodyguard and Mion.

The story is very nice and i love it. I love how the story goes and i love the deception of everything. It’s hard to write a review without giving any spoiler so i would just leave you with this “every part is connected.” For me, the only flaw with this series is the animation. It has a poor animation though as you watch it, it’s getting better. I hope everybody could watch it. The second season is out so i’m aiming for it. Ja!

I’m not really sure… But if you plan on watching this, I advice you to watch it from the start and finish it til the end(the end of 2nd season). I’m not sure if you will actually enjoy it the way I did because it’s more of a boring/psychological mystery with touches of gore and confusing storyline…
Try picking another series with lesser number of episodes – that is, if you don’t want to spend your quality time confusing yourself (24 episodes x 2 season = 48!)… And to tell you, this is some juicy honey for pedophiles…
-> one of my favorite series… Thrilled me to the bones…
