Am I being a fan of the series? NOT! I just saw the news and I thought  I wanted to put it here. Ha ha.

Summit Entertainment announced last December 13 that Chris Weitz(known for The Golden Compass and American Pie prod.) has been hired to direct the second movie of Twilight – New Moon. Weitz, they say, is one of the outstanding director and producers when it comes to fantasy and that sort of stuffs.

Summit also announced that the production will begin on this coming months and is planning to release the film towards the end of 2009 or early 2010.

It’s too bad they’re not making it back to back but I guess they want to remain faithful to the original storyline. I hope they do better this time. ^^

New Moon

Eclipse

I’ve read that SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT is moving forward to the production New Moon, the second installment of Twilight. But, there’s a rumor going around that the studio will do something different.

Um, it’s just a rumor, ok? So don’t take what I write here too seriously. Summit Entertainment might make the next movie a back-to-back of the two books New Moon and Eclipse.

I don’t know about it. Twilight alone had been troublesome to fit in the 2-hour movie, right? But there are the good and bad sides on it. Firstly, the fans will not wait for like 5 years for the whole series be completed. But the downside of it, the narration will be sure fail. The story will be crammed and will sure be messy. The character development will be rushed and pushed to the limit, to the point of ruining the real story.

Here are some possible reasons:

1. If you have read the Saga, in the New Moon, Edward (portrayed by Pattinson, the new Teen heart throb) will be away to keep Bella (played by the beautiful Kristen Stewart) from their vampire enemies. So, with Edward away, and Jacob (Taylor Lautner, a not-so-good choice for Jacob, but I think I see the reason why they chose him) on the spotlight, the fangirls will sure lose some interest.
2. Action, action… Everyone wants action.
3. It is also possible that they are rushing the movie to Breaking Dawn.
4. Twilight-ers wants more vampires and more werewolves

The question here now: is it better for them to make a separate film for Eclipse (that means little of Edward in New Moon) to make the movies more accurate and close to the novels’ story lines or should they combine the two books (they should make the movie longer… 3 hours?) because you want them right away?

For me, I don’t really care about it. Let them do what they can, and what they want. I’ll just watch the movie, so it’s not my problem. But I do hope they do better this time.

I saw this movie last wednesday, November 26, the first day of showing in the Philippines.

Edward and Bella

I’m not really disappointed with the movie because I know that all adaptations cannot flawlessly imitate the original. Of course, it is a very difficult to fit all the things viewers may want to see in the movie.

Anyways, I have noticed that my reactions are different from most of the people. They say that Bella is soO irritating, and Edward is so cool and he fits the character. I say that the Bella in the movie is the very same Bella in the book, and Edward… he lacks something, he is so hard.., and he just manipulates the audience with his charm. Ha ha. About Jacob, I agree with everyone else… eew.

For me, the movie lacks some important elements. Edward and Bella fell in love with each other too easily. Bella fell in love with Edward too easily. Well, in some ways, it’s kinda right, but based on what I think for I have read the book, they should have spent much more time together. In the movie, they spent too little time… But that’s not at all bad, it’s just my opinion.

I actually love the setting of the movie… and the characters, they are nicely chosen(not Jacob, of course). I love the scenery, I love the view… I love some moments. I love Bella, she is so beautiful. Ha ha.

I like the way they fit the running-away part for very short period of time. Though the given time was very short, the exposition of the story and the happenings is nicely done.

For the movie alone, I could give it a score of 7.5/10. And because I find Bella so astonishing, I’m increasing it to 8/10. Ha ha.

I know that Stephenie Meyer is planning to publish the next book on the Twilight Saga. Well, it’s not actually a sequel but Edward Cullen’s version of Twilight… she called it Midnight Sun. I’m not really a fan, a die-hard fan, of the series but I’m looking forward to this one. I guess Edward(Cullen, not me XD) has a different view of things here since he’s the vampire, the good-looking one and the mind reader.

Til one day, I bumped onto my friend’s blog. She stated that a leak of the book is wide-spreading on the net. I hurriedly typed on my favorite Internet browser the words Midnight Sun Leak. I was directed to the official site of Stephenie Meyer. She is very disappointed about the leak that she doesn’t feel like publishing the book anymore. Her fans are very disappointed too, all of them blaming the stupid one who let it leak on the Net. At the end of Meyer’s blog post is a download link to a secured copy of the draft of the Midnight Sun. 12 chapters, not finished yet. Without wasting a minute, I tried to read just one chapter. Guess what, I feel kinda disappointed too that Meyer is doubting to continue this project. I continued reading it to the last chapter and all I can say is Wow. Meyer really knows the whole story of her Twilight. And the fact that Cullen can read other people’s mind added flavor to the manuscript. I think I will like this better than the original Twilight. I don’t really know if the mind-reading thing caught my attention or is it because it’s the guy’s point of view.

Too much about Twilight. Anyways, I wanna share this site, http://www.twilightguy.com … He proclaims himself as a guy who reads Twilight. He confirmed that he is not Meyer’s crew to get the men’s attention to read the book. Actually, he is a college student who is writing a novel that will debut on Fall next year. I think he’s also writing a series. I read the plot and I guess it’s something that I can look forward too… well, next year.

I really doubt myself if I could read a fantasy novel and imagine things properly. I admit it, my imagination is extremely poor. If you described to me a car in accurate and unique detail, with stresses and emphases, trust me, the thing that will be formed in my mind is a vehicle that has four doors, a windshield and wheels, and the thing moves. I picked up the Inheritance cycle of Christopher Paolini. Not familiar? What if I mention the the title of the first novel, Eragon. Oh. It is followed by Eldest, Brisingr(recently published) and an as yet untitled fourth book. I picked this up because the first one has already a movie adaptation. I can verify the things I imagined with that. Good luck to me! Ganbarimasu!

I will never forget Sherrilyn Kenyon’s 25-book Dark-Hunter series. I’m not very sure if I will read all of that, maybe just some popular titles. I’ve already read 2 books, by the way.

And Agatha Christie… oh Agatha Christie. I’m currently working on Murder at the Orient Express. It’s a very good thing that the novels of Christie are shorter than the usual books. They are short but you have to notice every single detail to enjoy the book to the fullest. Simple things and evidences may mean everything in most murder cases. I maybe jumping on Christie’s novel every other time.

Actually, there are tons more on my list… Dennis Lehane, Sue Grafton… OMG. I’m gonna save them up on my next post. I first have to finish these first and more important stuffs.

This Twilight Saga is ruining my anime-watching schedule double time. At first, it was just a mere snack break from my anime-and-manga-sembreak-deluxe, but now, it’s turning the table upside down.

The Twilight Saga of Stephenie Meyer consists of four books. Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Honestly, there’s nothing special about the writing style of Meyer. All the actions in the series happened chronologically and continuously without developing certain twists that readers would more likely to enjoy. I really can’t find something special. For me, it’s just a childish fairy-tale, only long enough to be considered as Children’s book. The myth, or should I say the reality, in the series was not given justice for a concrete foundation and evidences. Unlike Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter Series, the author spent time and effort to narrate where her dark-hunter evolved from, tracing back from the Ancient Greek Mythology era.

This series is all about Bella Swan and her extraordinary-slash-supernatural experiences in Forks. That is the summary. Not forgetting to mention bloodsuckers and dog-people, their rivalry both in nature and in love.

My thought about the writing style of Meyer:

Her ideas is not good enough to be considered as mature. One example is the Mental Telepathy(or whatever you may call it) of the shape-shifters. That is really a bad idea. As well as the “gift” of the vampires – that is one weakness of Stephenie Meyer.

When you turn into a vampire, you will become more beautiful..?

Vampires don’t need a bathroom break. What will happen to the consumed blood? Won’t they become overweight?

Overall, the story is good, though there are some flaws on the thinking and decision-making of the characters. But of course, I never would have finished all four books if the pacing is slow and boring, ne?

I’m not gonna make this long. Twilight fans might stake my heart if I do. XD
